‘A toxic mess’
We’re still scratching our heads over Gov. Palin’s debate performance, waiting on a Fargo language expert to help us sift through a heckuva a lot of issues. So stay tuned.
But for now, consider this mangled mess of a statement:
“There have been so many changes in the conditions of our economy in just even these past weeks that there has been more and more revelation made aware now to Americans about the corruption and the greed on Wall Street.”
Palin often mistakes her subjects and her objects: Who is doing the action and who is receiving it? A revelation can’t be made aware to a person. A person has a revelation. That is, she is made aware of a revelatory fact.
And consider this shrewd observation, which employs one of the most cliche phrases of the campaign:
It’s a toxic mess, really, on Main Street that’s affecting Wall Street.
That suggests that Joe Six-Packs and Hockey Moms on Main Street caused this financial disaster, and investors and CEOs are hurting as a result. I’m afraid you’ve got that backwards, Gov. Palin.
Think she did better with envrionmental subjects? Think again.
We have got to encourage other nations also to come along with us with the impacts of climate change, what we can do about that.
What can we do about that? Oh, my…
